Daily Dose of Wonder

The fire escape at the end of my hallway is old and rickety and kids like to hang out there because the view of the downtown skyline is amazing. They sit out there and drink 40’s and smoke pot on hot summer nights. I’m the grumpy old man who kicks them off and tells them not to come back but secretly I’m rooting for them and their arrogant innocence, their delight in the city that is, of course, all theirs, glittering at their feet like faerie grotto treasure.
